Writing!
For the Stage
I have written a number of plays including Attila the Hun (winner of Playmarket's annual 'Plays For the Young: Teenagers Section' award) WHITE MEN (nominee for 'Best New NZ Play of the Year' at the Wellington Theatre Awards) and Benedict Cumberbatch Must Die (which has only been recently removed from Benedict's wikipedia page).
Some Things I Have Written
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH MUST DIE
"It must have been difficult to have been a devoted fan in the days before the internet. How did the fans of Sinatra, Elvis, and all the others manage to keep up with what was happening in the lives of their idols?..
Caitlin McNaughton (Clarissa), Abby Howells (Genevieve) and Kate Schrader (Tamara) are a good comedy team and they keep this light-as-a- feather farce floating in the air with consistent characterisations and good humour. The audience roared its approval throughout."
WHITE MEN
"Nero may have fiddled while Rome burned but today’s ‘top dogs’ just keep having meetings while the world drowns. That’s the apt metaphor playwright Abby Howells plunges into with her satirical take-down of the patriarchy and its failure to stem the tide of rising sea levels. "
ATTILA THE HUN
"Abby Howells, author of Attila the Hun, which opened at BATS’ Propeller Stage last night, is an award winning comedian and writer. And how!
This play amply and hilariously demonstrates a double whammy of a talent."
